DIR-3 KYC: the September filing that blocks everything else
The cheapest filing on the calendar, and the one whose failure costs the most in blocked work.

DIR-3 KYC is an annual confirmation that a director holding a Director Identification Number still exists at the address and contact details on record. It is due by 30 September each year, for every DIN allotted on or before 31 March of that year.
What happens if it is missed
- The DIN is marked deactivated due to non filing of DIR-3 KYC
- The director cannot sign any MCA form until it is restored
- Restoring it requires filing the KYC with a late fee of 5,000 rupees
- Every other company filing that needs that director's signature waits, including AOC-4 and MGT-7
One deactivated DIN can hold up the entire annual filing set for a company, which then starts accruing its own daily additional fee.
Web KYC and full KYC
Directors who filed the full form in a previous year and whose details have not changed can usually complete a simpler web based confirmation. Directors filing for the first time, or whose email or mobile number has changed, file the full form with a digital signature and professional certification.
It takes minutes and costs nothing when filed on time. That is the whole argument for putting it on a calendar somebody watches.
